FAQ

Is there a dress code?

Yes. Please wear clothes. Other than that, just come as you are. At FBCH you will find people dressed in old jeans and flip flops, business casual as well as full suits and ties. So no one will stand out.

What should I expect on Sunday morning?

That depends on when you get here. Arrive at or just before 9 and you will find hustle and bustle of people taking kids to Sunday School and adults gathering for their classes. There will always be 1 or 2 people hanging around the foyer and front office looking to help you and your children find the class(es) you need.

If you arrive around 10:00am you can expect everyone to be meeting in the fellowship hall for coffee, juice and snacks. We are often blessed with baked goods. The set up is very child friendly! Safety and service are the theme. The snacks are up in the pass-through window, over 4 feet high to keep them out of the reach of little hands. The coffee is in the kitchen to avoid curious kids from getting scalded. Volunteers are on station to help serve people of all ages. Come and allow us to pour you a cup of fresh coffee and hand you a sticky bun!

At 10:20am the worship team begins their music and people start their way into the sanctuary.

What are the services like?

Our services contain a combination of traditional and contemporary elements. While not a blended in service in the pure sense (in that we don't intermix the hymns with contemporary praise music) we do enjoy both styles of worship music. Typically the praise team gets an early start on the service at about 10:20 (though service doesn't officially start till 10:30). At some point you'll experience a children's message, sermon, offering, possibly communion (more on that later), announcements, hymns & contemporary music, and some type of wrap up (traditionally called a benediction).

Despite the common misconception, Baptists have historically been a people of change, seeking to adapt to the culture God places us in while remaining true to His Word. As such we do not follow any particular liturgy nor are we locked into any particular order of service.

Can my children come into worship with me?

WE WELCOME YOUR CHILDREN! We love children and the pastor's have 11 children between the two families. We also have the music and sermon playing in the nursing baby room and the toddler nursery. Our toddler nursery is staffed during the service and is available for children up to 5 years of age.

How are you protecting my children?

Our staff: Each staff member is put through rigorous background checks, reference checks and child protection training.

Our volunteers: Each volunteer must submit to a child protection training course and reference check.

Our building: Each educational room and office in the building has a window which allows people to see what is happening in the room at any given time.

How do I become a member?

New members go through a DVD class and a question and answer session with a pastor. We want you to know all about FBCH: our history, beliefs and requirements for membership. We want it to be a good fit for you and do not want to force you into a mold.

What does FBCH offer for children and youth?

Every Sunday FBCH offers Sunday School for children and youth.

Our youth ministry (called the REVOLUTION) also meets year round at 7:00pm on Wednesday evenings. They also engage in service projects, mission trips, camps and, most importantly, studying the Word of God and learning how to apply it to their lives.

During the school year Kidmo Kids Club meets on Wednesday nights.

Do you have Sunday school for adults?

Yes. We have a full array of Sunday School offerings at 9:00am, for people who are seeking, people who are in the midst of family life and those who have lived a full life in Christ. In addition, we have numerous other small group studies.

How am I expected to participate in the service?

Feel free to participate in any way you feel comfortable.

Will I be made to stand up, or introduce myself, or be singled out in any way?

No. We respect your privacy and your desire to worship with us at your own comfort level. We'll never call on you from the pews, or ask you to introduce yourself. You may be warmly greeted before, during or after the service by any of the number of awesome individuals who attend FBCH.

Do you celebrate Communion?

Yes - we celebrate communion on the first Sunday of every month.

May I take part in communion or the Lord' Supper if I am not a member, or even a Baptist?

Absolutely. Every follower of Jesus Christ is welcome to receive communion - you needn't be a member of our church or even a Baptist.

Do I need to be re-baptized if I was baptized in another church?

Well, that depends. As Baptists we do not recognize infant baptism as having any spiritual significance. As long as you were baptized by immersion, in the name of the Trinity, after you accepted and publicly professed Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you will not need to be re-baptized.
