Adult Ministries

There are several options for adults to get plugged into ministry and personal growth. For the men, there are two groups that one might find very helpful and enjoyable. On Monday nights at 8:00 in the church overflow room, a group of men meet to work through issues that face men directly. We go back and forth from studying a book of the Bible to a more topical approach. We recently worked through Sermon on the Mount's material teaching us about men's spirituality as it compares to horsemanship. From there, we've taken up the book of I Timothy and when we've completed that we're on to Gene Getz' Measure of a Man small group materials. There is also the Men's Saturday morning Breakfast and Bible Study, that meets in the fellowship hall every Saturday at 7:00. Their strategy is to take a chapter of the new testament and read through it along with the Proverb that corresponds to the meeting's date. The passage is read and the discussion ensues, all of course, after an amazing breakfast each week.

The women have two Bible studies on Tuesday. The Tuesday morning Bible Study meets at 9:30 each Tuesday Mary Jayne Circle and works through materials as they feel led corporately. They also run the card ministry of the church. The Tuesday evening Bible Study centers on helping the attendees grow in their faith as well. In addition to these Bible Studies, the Mary Jayne Circle meets once a month. Mary Prosser Jayne was the first missionary sent out by First Baptist Church of Holdrege in 1837. This circle of women meet to carry on her ministry through nursing home outreaches, overseeing our White Cross ministry as well as giving opportunity for fellowship and growth through devotionals. The Mary Jayne Circle meets once a month on the second Thursday.

In addition to these ministries, there are always a number of small groups that meet weekly. Once a year, usually in the fall, we do a 40-day all church emphasis that ties the sermon series, small group participation and even personal devotions for that season. Every thing ties together so that you can go as deep as you would like. We've looked at the Purpose Driven Church and we've also created our own materials for 40-day journeys through Hebrews and through Prayer. Each has been a wonderful experience for every participant.
